Project Management Office is a department which is responsible for integrated project management within the organisational chart of the Company. The responsibility of PMO may extend from supporting project management tasks to the actual direct management of a project.
Selected PMO functions are as follows:
1- Standardizing and performing the consultation roles by establishing procedures regarding the execution of works, models, feasible formats, and standards within the organisation.
2- Identifying and implementing project management methodologies and applying the best practices and procedures within the organisation,
3- Assisting the process of provision of sources needed by the management and the organisation,
4- Serving as projects repository and managing the information resources needed by the management,
5- Planning and controlling the organisational activities of project teams by providing a responsibility assignment matrix,
6- Systemizing and coordinating relations within and without the organisation,
7- Helping the management in directing the projects,
8- Managing the risks and opportunities of the project,
9- Enhancing organisational maturity and culture for superior management and execution of projects,
10- Providing educational needs of the organisation and soft-wares required by the management of the projects,
11- Stakeholder’s effective management and increasing their satisfaction,
12- Registering, organising and transferring the knowledge acquired from the new projects management,
13- Facilitating communications and access to information related to the projects of the organisation.
